WHAT IS THE ROADMAP

The Broadband Roadmap will provide an overview of the existing broadband services available today, where there are gaps in service, and information on existing and planned fiber builds in the region.  The Broadband Roadmap will then provide capital cost estimates and recommendations for improving broadband service in the region.  The plan intends to involve local service providers in this effort and to team up local governments with the private sector to seek funding for infrastructure builds.

We are targeting to provide a final report and our deliverables in the February timeframe.  This will set the region up for applying for grant funding available from the American Rescue Plan Act and the Infrastructure Bill funding that is available for broadband infrastructure.

WHO ARE WE

Central Sierra Counties

Five Counties located in the Central Sierra region (Alpine, Amador, Calaveras, Tuolumne and Mariposa) are working towards building a roadmap for broadband deployment. The purpose of the Central Sierra Broadband Roadmap will focus on identifying gaps in broadband service, establishing priorities, and to match funding opportunities with these priorities to accelerate investment in broadband infrastructure in the region.  The counties have hired broadband consulting firm, NEO Connect to create the Broadband Roadmap and outreach firm, California Forward to engage the youth and seniors in the region.
